By the end of June this year, headquarters of the Kunming Dian Chi Water Hyacinth completed the work of throwing the seeds of the water hyacinth into Dian Chi. The collecting of the water hyacinth was officially initiated and stepped into the collecting season. The water hyacinth was used to purify quality of the water in Dian Chi and beautify the environment in the lake.

The relevant officers said the water hyacinth was growing a fast speed and only survived in certain season. Thus, the collection of the water hyacinth should be at the right time and the timetable of the collection should be arranged well. During the process of the collection, the headquarters would arrange the protection and cultivation of the water hyacinth. The estimated amount of the water hyacinth would reach a total number of 660 thousand tons and the estimated collection amount would reach 500 thousand tons.

The fresh grass which was collected everyday was more than three thousand tons. According to the speed of the collection, the collection work would be completed by the end of this year. It was reported that the cultivation of the water hyacinth was about 18 thousand mu, among which the coverage of the grass sea was six thousand mu. This kind of water hyacinth was mainly cultivated in the west and east banks of the grass sea. The outer sea included 12 thousand mu of water hyacinth.

The information also said the Fishery Administration of Dian Chi in Kunming threw 445 thousand of baby fish to form a species of one certain type of fish. Those who took the Chinese language class in China said that they got to know that the significance of the measure of throwing fish into Dian Chi was to use the fish to control the number of alga, to reduce the pollution and to purify the quality of water. They thought the measures were of great importance.
